]]> Hand-carved marionettes from folklore, fairy tales, and dreams. Inspired by a visit to Prague and childhood memories of the Bread & Puppet Theater, I started making marionettes in 2003. Each interactive creation combines the art of carving, the engineering of kinetic sculpture, and my ethic of play and wonderment.

I carve, sand, paint, assemble, and string at least twelve individual body parts for each puppet. I shape basswood, fir, maple, resin, steel, wire, screws, and fabric in their construction, forge steel for horns and adornments, and use wood, leather, and saddle thread to add strings and controllers. They generally stand between 12″ and 22″ tall.

]]> Inspiration for my art comes from looking at nature’s colors and creations.

Surrounded by trees, flowers, rocks, and water, I channel my feelings of awe and amazement into my artwork. Splashes of color and shimmers of fabrics, fibers, paints, sequins, and beads combine to become Mermaids and Dolls. Also, glitters of beads and bangles, and layers of earthy leathers combine to become personalized Beaded Jewelry. I create designs, fabrics, and colorful dyes—Batik Art for homes and wearable art for people.
