]]> I have been a feather artisan for over 50 years. My heritage is Polish. I used to stare at this beautiful box my parents brought over from Poland when they immigrated. It is a mosaic of straw cut into symmetrical shapes. I think that is my inspiration.

I started out as a street artist in San Francisco in the early 70s. I gradually traveled all over the country selling my wears at pretty prestigious art festivals. New Orleans Jazz Fest, ACE shows, Sausalito, Lincoln Center, Mill Valley, and the Folklife Festival, and then I found a market that changed me, that changed the way I perceived my work. That festival is Oregon Country Fair.

I have been here for over 30 years. Now, it is the only show that I do. As I get older, travel gets harder, and I can work all year long towards one event. My work is lighthearted and it fulfills me. Come see me and my wonderful crew this year.

]]> Hand-carved marionettes from folklore, fairy tales, and dreams. Inspired by a visit to Prague and childhood memories of the Bread & Puppet Theater, I started making marionettes in 2003. Each interactive creation combines the art of carving, the engineering of kinetic sculpture, and my ethic of play and wonderment.

I carve, sand, paint, assemble, and string at least twelve individual body parts for each puppet. I shape basswood, fir, maple, resin, steel, wire, screws, and fabric in their construction, forge steel for horns and adornments, and use wood, leather, and saddle thread to add strings and controllers. They generally stand between 12″ and 22″ tall.

]]> Adina Gwatkin Designs specializes in painted, wooden-handled tools from hammers and garden implements to kitchen utensils. Twenty layers of brightly colored paint are applied and topped with gold or silver leaf. The surface is then carved to produce ringed designs and finished with four coats of urethane. Sculptural in appearance but durable enough to be fully functional. Adina Gwatkin makes the ordinary distinctive and unique.
